I was born in Macon in May of 1943, and got interested in photography during my senior year of high school.  I bought a simple darkroom outfit in 1962 and became obsessed with photography.  I read every book and magazine on the subject that I could find, joined professional organizations, attended seminars, and experimented a lot.  I took pictures of everybody and everything I encountered and drove my family and friends crazy.  From 1963 until 1966 I worked for Mercer University Publications, and in ‘66 I enlisted in the Navy.  While stationed in Pensacola, I realized that I wanted to make photography my life time career. Returning to Macon, I opened a commercial studio in 1968 and, at full bore, attempted every assignment that came my way, and a lot came my way.  Between ’68 and ’73, I took pictures for a multitude of major corporations, government agencies, educational institutions, publications, record labels, and individuals.  I purchased and used just about every camera outfit available, had my own lab, and processed and printed both color and black & white photographs.

Next to photography, I love being on the water.  In 1973, I moved to my family’s property on Lake Sinclair and built another studio.  Small town studios survive on babies, high school seniors, and weddings.  I quickly adapted and found my calling.  I was successful but after 27 years needed a change.  In 1999, I sold all of my film equipment and switched to digital.  Digital capture with its immediate gratification and superior imagery was like my first darkroom.  I fell in love all over again!  While I have personally photographed over 1250 weddings and well over 100,000 people, using a variety of different techniques and equipment, for me, nothing compares to digital.  Once again, I am reading, learning, teaching, and experimenting and my photography is better than ever.  Now, with the advent of wireless technology and the internet, I can stay in touch with and serve my customers from any location just as well as I can from my studio. I recently acquired an  RV, built myself a small houseboat, and try to winter on the St. John's river in Florida as much as I can.  Life is good!
